Cars & Mini-Vans

Throughout our life we will hit moments when we need money and don’t know what to do to get it.  A lot of things you can do to make extra money take a little time before they start paying off.  One thing people can do is put their vehicles to work.  Sure, everyone knows about Uber and Lyft but they are far from being the only company out there.  I think Amazon spoiled us with their free (that’s not really free) delivery service.  People started using it more and have really come to enjoy having things delivered right to their door.

You can get groceries, fast food, documents and just about anything else you want, brought right to your door.  This is a convenience for the consumer and it’s an opportunity to make money for you.  But don’t think all the markets have been tapped.  There’s always more things that can be brought in.  Does a customer want a certain type of dog food that only Pet Smart carries?  You can get it for them.  Does a customer want two 40 pound bags of topsoil?  You can get it for them.  The nice thing about the internet is that the customer can see exactly what the store has to offer so they can be specific when they tell you what they want.

Pickup Trucks & Cargo Vans

There are a lot of things you can do with a car but sometimes something needs either a van or pickup truck.  Maybe a customer makes cakes and has made a wedding cake.  Transporting a wedding cake is so much harder than transporting a regular cake but if the person only makes wedding cakes every once in a while she or he may not want to invest in a van.  Of course, you would need to understand what you would need to safely transport the cakes but it can be as simple as buying different sized plastic tubs (there shouldn’t be much room at all for the cake to shift around) to set the cakes in so that, as long as you drive carefully, they don’t slide around.

Or maybe someone needs help moving furniture.  You can put an add in Craigslist saying you will help people bring a piece of furniture they bought, home from the store.  Or maybe you like the idea of helping the environment and would like to up-sell items.  You could use your pickup truck to drive around on days when people put their bulk items out and pick out things that can be saved or re-purposed.  Maybe you want to sell scrap metal.  A pickup truck is a necessity for that type of business.  You can even do something as simple as delivering newspapers.  A car can be used for this also but the weight of the paper is hard on its suspension and brakes.  A truck is better able to handle the load.

Bicycles & Rickshaws

Depending on where you live, you can even do deliveries on your bicycle.  But my favorite idea for a side hustle is having a rickshaw business.  Can you imagine how much fun that would be to show tourists around your city in a bicycle powered rickshaw?  Not only would you be getting paid and possibly tipped but you would be getting exercise too.  Unfortunately, a rickshaw can be a large initial investment.  This would be a better business to start when you have some spare money to invest.  Look at the little beauty I found on Alibaba.com.  Isn’t she a doll?  Of course you would need to look into weight capacity, what do you do if you get a flat tire and so on.

There are tons of things that can be done with your vehicle.  Think up ideas then look them up online to see if there are any regulations you need to meet but don’t let those scare you away from something you are really interested in doing.  The reality is, everything takes work.  It’s extremely rare for something to fall into your lap and be immediately successful.  You have to make your dreams happen.
